My Review: 2.5 stars
Letβs just say my TBR pile was sending me obscenities to get moving on to something else if I wasnβt feeling the love for the book or the βmoving love storyβ between the two main characters. Due to the setting and time, the slow moving pace of the writing definitely set the mood for the slow processes these characters had to endure. Mail twice a year, week long treks in the snow to get from one locale to the next.
I enjoyed the northern scenic descriptions and the peril the people lived in due to mother nature. I loved the relationship Kathy formed with the natives as well as the adventurous scenes in the story.
Now even younger children can follow the little green caterpillar as he eats his way to becoming a beautiful butterfly in this sturdy board book Great for early development Children will enjoy this delightful tale Ages 2 to 5
Book Review:Code Name Sapphire by Pam Jenoff was another compelling book inspired by the true stories of the brave souls who risked everything to save themselves and others from the death camps during WW2. Having the story take place in Belgium was a plus for me, as it was a new setting that I wasnβt familiar with. This book is told by the three main POVs: Hannah, Lily and Micheline. This structure worked well as it was during the same time-period. Each woman was quite distinct, so I never got confused between the three. Of all the women however, I was most interested in Micheline and her role in the Sapphire Line. She could have her own book!I really appreciated the impeccable research employed by the author. She brought many real stories to life, as well as fictionalizing some of the story to support the facts. Through works like these, we feel the pain and injustices that occurred. It made me grateful for those in history that worked as resistors against the Nazis. @pamjenoff @parkrowbooks π: What is your favorite gemstone?
