Still Me (Me Before You #3) by Jojo Moyesβ 390 pages
Book Blurb:
Louisa Clark arrives in New York ready to start a new life, confident that she can embrace this new adventure and keep her relationship with Ambulance Sam alive across several thousand miles. She steps into the world of the superrich, working for Leonard Gopnik and his much younger second wife, Agnes. Lou is determined to get the most out of the experience and throws herself into her new job and New York life.
As she begins to mix in New York high society, Lou meets Joshua Ryan, a man who brings with him a whisper of her past. Before long, Lou finds herself torn between Fifth Avenue where she works and the treasure-filled vintage clothing store where she actually feels at home. And when matters come to a head, she has to ask herself: Who is Louisa Clark? And how do you reconcile a heart that lives in two places?
My Review: 4 stars
Still Me was a welcome addition as the third book in the Me Before You series or it can read as a stand alone. I had heard this series was going to be a trilogy but once again, Moyes has left an opening for a wonderful continuation in a fourth book. Hereβs hoping! Many of you know her first book, Me Before You, was a 5 star for me, her second book, After You, was only 3 stars and now sheβs back with a solid 4 stars.
This story was well paced and kept me engaged from the start. I liked that there were multiple sub-plots that felt important to the story. The minor characters, which show up in many of the sub-plots, are people I want to know better. Iβd include Ashook and his wife, Margot, Treena and Eddie, Ilaria, Lily and Mrs. Gopnikβs βnieceβ in this list.
This book explores living in two places at the same time and feeling like youβre never fully in one place or the other. It challenges the value of telling the truth or keeping secrets. It reminds you to be yourself and to not change for anyone. Lots of good message flow through these pages and a good spoonful of romance.
NOTE: Here’s a big shout out to Jojo Moyes for understanding the difference between Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetes. So many authors get it wrong and being a Type 1 diabetic myself, it’s infuriating. So thank you!
Quotes I liked:
Books are what teach you about life. Books teach you empathy. But you canβt buy books if you barely got enough to make rent. So that library is a vital resource! You shut a library, Louisa, you donβt just shut down a building, you shut down hope.β
