With polygamous relationships becoming a cultural phenomenon (think Sister Wives on TLC), I was excited to dive into The Wives. The idea of being so in love with your husband that you’re willing to share him was crazy to me. The reason being that you’d rather have some of him instead of none of him was borderline fascinating to me. Now you see, the premise offers a great hook.

This review is going to be hard to write without giving too much away, but I will say that even I, the super sleuth who guesses the plot twists of most thrillers, was caught off guard and shocked by a lot of the plot twists. I often wasn’t sure if I had skipped pages.

Curiosity gets the best of Thursday, our main character, as she decides to dig into her husband’s other marriages. Soon she begins to question her own marriage as well. I loved this aspect because who wouldn’t go into detective mode to learn more? Wouldn’t you want to know about who your spouse’s other spouses were? Are they similar to you? What do you have that they don’t, and vice versa?

The story is what drove the book. The writing style skipped all over the place and the first half reads slower than the second half, but I didn’t mind because it was so suspenseful. Overall, this was a quick read and the perfect thriller to cozy up to by the fireplace this winter. Review by Guest Fairy Carly.
