All Your Perfects is a romance that will grip you right away and make your heart melt. I consider Colleen Hoover to be the romance queen and is probably the only author in this genre I read. She’s a Judy Blume of the 70s; every thing she writes is good.
This book is told in two time periods, then and now, which worked so well in this case. The then shows a bountiful love filled with hope, while the now shows how a marriage can change even if you still love each other. In the first quarter of the book, a fortune in a fortune cookie says the following: If you only shine light on your flaws, than all your perfects will dim. This one line really sums up so much of the book. It’s a beautiful message.
Books open our eyes to many points of view that can often be a learning experience or even difficult to read about. Much of this story deals with infertility so if that’s a trigger for you, be warned. Once again, I was reminded just how important communication is. Without it, relationships are bound to fail. The main character couldn’t express her feelings to her husband and often misread her own mother. Seeing these relationships unfold made for a good read. I did find Graham to be a little too perfect; he was expressive, emotionally intelligent, smart, handsome, open, etc. And how Quinn focused on perfection became borderline hyperbolic.
With a realistic ending, this book wrapped up nicely. This was a great beach read, an interesting topic for a romance and is well written.
