Mother’s Day Books 2014
Next Sunday is Mother’s Day and there’s always room in a mother’s heart for a new book. If she’s an avid reader she’ll embrace it and dig right in, like me (hint, hint). If she’s a “vacation only reader” may this be a perfect reminder that she can read outside as the warm weather approaches. Either way, a new book always makes a great gift!
- My Name Is Resolute by Nancy E. Turner (historical fiction, American Revolution)
- Lost Lake by Sarah Allison Adler (contemporary fiction, magical realism)
- Bellagrand by Paullina Simons (family saga)
- A Well-Tempered Heart by Jan-Philipp Sendker (Asian fiction)
- The Weight of Blood by Laura McHugh (mothers and daughters/ mystery)
- The Pieces We Keep by Kristina McMorris (historical fiction, WW2)
- Outlander by Diana Gabaldon (historical romance, time travel)
- 84 Charring Cross Road by Helene Hanff (epistolary romance, oldie but goodie)
- All The Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr (historical fiction) *
- The Storied Life Of A.J. Frickey by Gabrielle Zevin (fiction, book about books) *
* These are next on my TBR list. I’m confident in recommending them to you.
This is a great list. The perfect Mother’s Day would be to get the quiet space to read these books! Thanks for the recommendations.
Agreed. I asked for an outdoor lounge chair for mother’s day to accompany some new books!
My two favorite books of 2014 are on your list — All the Light We Cannot See and The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry! I’m sure you will love them. Happy Mother’s Day! 🙂
Ann, I’m almost done with A.J. Fikry. It’s a gem. Met the author last week. She’s so YOUNG. Hope to see you soon.
Best,
L
