Book Blurb:
When Tilly Nightingale receives a call telling her there’s a birthday gift from her fiancé waiting for her at her local bookshop, it couldn’t come as more of a shock. Partly because she can’t remember the last time she read a book for pleasure. Mainly because Joe died five months ago…
The gift is simple – twelve carefully-chosen books from Joe, one for each month, to help her turn the page on her first year without him. Tilly sets out on a series of reading-inspired adventures that take her around the world. But as she begins to vlog her journey, her story becomes more than her own. With help from Alfie, the bookshop owner, her budding new following and her friends and family, can Tilly’s year of books show her how to love again?
My Review: 4 stars
This Book Made Me Think of You by Libby Page is a sweet and beautiful story about heartache and how one deceased man helped her get through her grief, while another helped her find a new take on life.
This book was emotional and had the main character, Tilly, (love that name!) in a terrible funk after her husband Joe passed away. With his insight and help from the book seller, he chooses books for her to unwrap, month by month, that will gently pull her into living life again.
The romance aspect of this novel is not unusual and pretty much expected once you start the book. It was the moments of how books can heal us in the most unexpected of ways that sold me. Each book had a reason and/or meaning behind why Joe selected those books. The list of books he selected had me smiling from ear to ear. Here are a few: Matilda, A Moveable Feast, Big Magic and Beach Read.
Alfie the bookseller was a welcome character. True to himself and a damn good friend. I loved his constant support and secret pining over Tilly. In my opinion there is nothing better than books about books, especially if I learn about a new title to add to my TBR.
