How to Walk Away was a heartwarming, emotional and romantic ride in fiction. This is the first book I’ve read from Katherine Center yet this is her sixth novel. I can’t wait to check out some of her other titles especially, Happiness For Beginners, which looks divine.

This book falls straight into the Women’s Fiction – Chick Lit genre with a good dollop of romance. The characters felt like my friends and the storyline is well paced. Was every thing that happened realistic? Not at all. There were some situations that I cannot imagine ever being tolerated, yet it never impacted my overall joy for the story. Actually, it’s quite predictable, but again, it didn’t disrupt my reading experience.

The book has a wonderful message/moral about making the most out of life. It explores how one dream can be torn apart yet somehow morph into another satisfying dream of a life. Perfect summer read!

Quotes I liked:

When you don’t know what to do for yourself, do something for somebody.”

-“The greater our capacity for sorry becomes, the greater our capacity for joy.”

-“Because that’s all we can do: carry the sorrow when we have to, and absolutely savor the joy when we can. Life is always, always both.”

“The worst thing about sleeping, after something terrible happens, is that sleeping makes you forget. Which is fine, until you wake up.”
